Sid Espresso : A Review

        A coffee shop with the name of a coffee drink, Sid Espresso is one of the recently established coffee place in Imphal. And probably one of the best in town for more reasons than one. After visiting twice, I was able to get enough experiences and gather enough information about this place in order to write this review.



The Ambience
       So, as far as ambience of a favorable coffee place is concerned, Sid Espresso has that extent which easily exceeds the people's expectations. It has one of the most spacious service area with total covers of not less than 30. The perfectly delineated interior is all shaded with coffee bean shades ranging from Brown to Tortilla. The overall furnishings of the coffee shop would probably be your love at first sight. From its esthetic sets of wooden sets of chairs & tables to the comfortable lounge sofas, from the expensive table top floral vase to other embellishments, sid espresso have that ambience that can satisfy most, if not all.
 
The Coffee
      I love espresso, so eventually I love their espresso. I'm sure they use every standard appliances or ingredients whether in the brewing machine or the coffee beans. Apart from the espresso, I personally have tried their Americano & cafe latte which I all found satisfactory. I haven't tried their mochachino, which I hope I'll try in near future. I'm not much of a fan of Cappucino & hot chocolate and I haven't tried the two in Sid. But I wish they add more in the coffee menu like espresso machiato, which is one of my favorite and Frappe, especially for the summer.

The Bakes & Confectioneries
    The Bakes are probably the most attractive feature of Sid. The range of cookies, crackers, cakes, bread, puff pastries & the romantic confections are something I drooled upon for minutes. I have tried some, but if I have to try everything they have it would take a dozen more visit. And most importantly, it is the first coffee shop or bakery in Manipur where I saw pie & tart. A piece of apple-cherry pie I tried was absolutely delicious.

Other Beverages
   The menu of sid espresso also features some other replenishing range of flavored tea & mocktails. I have tried the apple flavored tea & instantly I thought it was one of the best I ever had. With the starting of summer, I hope their mocktail menu would evententually help attracting more guests & being one of the reasons for my future visit.

The Service 
   Sid Espresso have enough Barista & server. Their service part is where I find confusing. When any coffee, tea or pastry is being served on our table, we won't be seeing any sugar sachets, tea spoon nor stirrer. Eventually we have to get them on our own from the counter. Its quite in convenient to get up and get all those after the ordered food & drinks have been placed on our table. Maybe if their service has been classified as self-served, anyone happily take their orders and get their own stirrer & sugar from the counter. But its not the case. One more thing about Sid Espresso is, I found their service a bit slow. I really didn't know how they took over 20 minutes to prepare a latte. When inquired about it to the manager, he replied with an answer that the brewing process needs special techniques & time unlike instant coffee. As if I didn't knew the difference between brew & instant coffee. As if they were the only coffee shop in town to brew. A bit chucklesome, but forgettable.
     So, apart from a little hiatus part in service, which I hope it'd be amended in future, I have no doubt that Sid Espresso is some place every coffee freaks needs to pay a visit atleast once. And most importantly, Sid Espresso is one of the very few coffee shops in Imphal offering Take Out option in specially designed takeout coffee cup with lids. Sid Espresso defines both fancy & comfortability.
